If you're ever going to be in NYC during the holiday season... here is a little guide for your Instagram stories!! As a NYC native, I still go to these attractions every year.
Shine Bright at Hudson Yard
November 25th to January 5th
📍Hudson Yards, New York, NY 10001
- Winter in New York can be cold, so starting indoors -- Hudson Yard. Inside the Hudson Yard Mall, they have the annual Christmas decorations up. Grab a burger from Shake Shack and a cup of Blue Bottle Coffee and enjoy the view. You can also do some Christmas shopping here :). And FYI, clothing and footwear under $110 are tax-free, happy shopping.

📍Saks Fifth Ave flagship store, 5th Avenue between 49th and 50th Street
Every year the Saks Fifth Ave Holiday Light Show in New York is projected onto the side of its flagship store on 5th Ave. Nothing puts you more in the holiday spirit than seeing festive decorations, right? Every year it's a different theme. The lights will "dance" to the different Christmas songs, a must when visiting NYC!
Note: it may be very crowded** and the show is every 10 minutes

📍45 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, NY 10111
Walking across, you can enjoy the view of the gigantic Christmas Tree at the Rockefeller Center. Always exciting to see this tree -- never gets old. It's amazing how many lights are up that tree (apparently there are 50,000 LED lights with over 3 million Swarovski crystals)!

Every time I'm back in New York, I have to go here or its sister restaurant, Rubys. It's a great brunch spot with an Australian twist. They have the best truffle fries in all the brunch spots in NYC (bold statement, I know).
My favorites: Truffle Fries, Shrimp linguine, Spicy shrimp toast (dinner only)...

Nothing like a hot pot of soup on a cold winter day. Located in East Village, they serve a unique selection of Japanese food. From Japanese hot pot to sushi, to deep fried skewers, to ramen, and good drinks of course.

3 years ago I was in New York for Thanksgiving and it was really pretty! It really is the dream city when it comes to shopping and dining haha. I already visited a couple of the attractions you included here, but I'll make sure to go to all the other ones when I'm in New York next!

ReplyDeleteA few years ago I went to the bryant park christmas market in nyc and I really enjoyed it. I think snow makes nyc beautiful and a perfect place to feel the winter holiday atmosphere. I'll definetley visit your recommendations the next time I get a chance!
ReplyDeleteNew York seems like a very fun place to spend the winter in. I can only imagine how hyped people are to be there, especially because of the new year's celebration. I would love to go sometime to spend my winter break there.
ReplyDeleteI love this!!! I visited NYC for the first time ever last summer, and I had such a blast. Although it was super hot and humid, I loved every second of it. That said, I've never visited the NYC in the winter before, but I heard visiting the city during the holidays is a must-do. I'll keep your recommendations in mind when I go!

ReplyDeleteI loved this post so much! As someone from New York, who's favorite time of year is the holidays, this got me really excited to go home and experience it. Going to Hudson Yards, the Saks light show, and the Rockefeller tree was a special part of my childhood and I can attest there is nothing like it!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your post, Erica. I am moving to New York City next year, and this was so helpful! I LOVE Dudley's and I'm a sucker for Rockefeller Center during Christmas. However, I have never checked out Barbam, and I can't wait to give it a try!
